Okinawa Praise, Ridge Electric Scooters Get Massive Price Cuts

Modified On Jun 17, 2021 12:55 PM By Praveen M. for Okinawa iPraise+

The price reduction is a result of the new FAME II subsidies

Recently, the Indian government revised the subsidies under the FAME II scheme. As a result, several electric scooters such as the Ather 450X and TVS iQube Electric witnessed major price drops. Now, Okinawa has followed suit by announcing price cuts for its high-speed offerings: Okinawa Praise (iPraise Plus and Praise Pro variants) and Ridge Plus. Take a look at the table for the ex-showroom Delhi pricing including subsidy:

Model

Previous Price

Latest Price

Reduction

Okinawa iPraise+

Rs 1,17,600

Rs 99,708

Rs 17,892

Okinawa Praise Pro

Rs 84,795

Rs 76,848

Rs 7,947

Okinawa Ridge+

Rs 69,000

Rs 61,791

Rs 7,209

The new prices were effective from June 11, 2021, which is when the government announced the updated policy. As you can see, the Okinawa iPraise Plus witnesses the highest price cut, making it slightly less expensive than the TVS iQube Electric. Incidentally, Okinawa claims this model is one of its highest-selling scooters, with a three-fold increase in demand in the last few months. As of May 2021, the company has sold over 90,000 scooters.

Okinawa aims to achieve 100 percent localisation by the end of this financial year (March 30, 2022). It is investing Rs 150 crore to set up a new manufacturing plant in Rajasthan, near its already-existing facility.

Okinawa was also planning to launch the Oki100 electric bike and even teased it in March. However, the second wave of the pandemic seems to have delayed its launch plans. The electric bike was unveiled at Auto Expo 2018 and is expected to be launched in the coming months, now that the restrictions are being eased country-wide. The brand is also looking to launch its first electric maxi-scooter, the Okinawa Cruiser, early next year. Take a look at the details.
