Ola Electric recently announced its electric mobility plans for India and even signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a 500-acre factory for the mass production of its e-scooters. Let’s take a close look at the Ola Electric Scooter in detailed images. 

On the design front, the Ola scooter comes off as an amalgamation of a simplistic and futuristic approach. The shrouds have neat Vespa-like flowing lines and there are almost no parts sticking out.

The headlight uses two separate LED units with the DRL at the periphery. The LED indicators are neatly integrated into the front apron. The same approach has been followed for the rear indicators too. 

Apart from the underseat, Ola has given its electric scooter two cubby holes on the apron as well as a utility hook (which appears to be fixed) for storage. 

The Ola Electric Scooter is based on the Etergo Appscooter. The motor in the latter is capable of producing 5.8kW of power and 135Nm of torque at the wheel. It is powered by a 1.6kWh removable ‘banana battery’, offering a range of 80km. So, expect the Ola e-scooter to have a similar powertrain and battery setup.

For added pillion safety, the Ola scooter also gets a two-piece grab-rail. The contoured seat with premium red stitching appears to be spacious enough for both the rider and the pillion. We hope Ola adds a hook below the front part of the seat for added practicality. 

The footpegs fold neatly into the side panels for a clean look. The India-spec scooter is likely to feature a large footboard on one side to comply with government mandates. 

Instead of massive stickers or numerous badges, Ola has taken a minimalistic approach with just an embossed logo on the front apron. 

The e-scooter is sprung on a single-sided front telescopic fork with stopping power coming from a front disc and a rear drum brake setup. The India-spec Ola e-scooter will come with locally manufactured tyres to keep costs low. 

The upcoming e-scooter could be priced around Rs 1.35 lakh. We can’t wait to see what the final version of the scooter will look like. Will it be able to take on heavyweights such as the Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X? Only time will tell.
