River Indie Electric Scooter Deliveries Begin

River commences deliveries of its maiden electric scooter, the Indie, in Bangalore

River, the Bangalore-based electric vehicles manufacturer, has commenced deliveries of its maiden electric scooter, the Indie. Customers who had pre-ordered the scooter officially received their scooters during an event held in Bangalore. The next batch of deliveries, meanwhile, is expected to begin next month. 

The River Indie was launched in February this year and the first scooter rolled off the production line in August. The Indie is powered by a 6.7 kW motor that can produce 27Nm and the scooter comes with features such as a 6-inch digital instrument cluster, USB Ports and 3 riding modes (Eco, Ride and Rush). 

On the design side of things, the scooter has a unique, utilitarian look and features large LED headlamps, 14-inch alloy wheels and 240 mm front and 200 mm rear disk brakes. 

The scooter’s initial price was announced as Rs 1,25,000 and River has announced that they will be updating it soon. As of now, the River Indie is set to compete with the  TVS iQube and the Ather 450X.
