Modified On Jul 6, 2021 02:55 PM By Pratik Bhanushali for Simple One

Previously codenamed Mark 2, the Simple Energy e-scooter has now got its official name

Simple Energy CEO Suhas Rajkumar has announced that the company’s upcoming electric scooter will be called ‘Simple One’. Previously codenamed Mark 2, the e-scooter will be launched on August 15 this year.

The Bengaluru-based EV maker will launch the Simple One in a staggered manner, starting with its home city, followed by Chennai and Hyderabad. Expect it to be priced between Rs 1,10,000 and Rs 1,20,000.

The indigenous electric scooter is powered by a 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery and gets a claimed range of 240km in Eco mode. Its top speed has been limited to 100kmph, and it can go from 0-50kmph in a claimed 3.6 seconds. With these sort of numbers, It should have the Ather 450X in its crosshairs, and in theory should well outdo it in terms of real-world range.

The Simple One will also boast premium features like a touchscreen instrument console with navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and even a removable battery. Moreover, the company is working on setting up public charging stations prior to the launch for convenient charging.

Given its expected launch price of Rs 1.10 lakh, the Simple One will compete with the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and the soon-to-be-launched Ola e-scooter.
