The e-scooter has the best-in-industry claimed range of 203km!

Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy has finally launched its flagship scooter, the Simple One in India at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom). The e-scooter will be available in Bengaluru and will reach 75 cities in 13 states in the next three to seven months. Simple Energy has also commenced pan India pre-bookings for the scooter at a token of Rs 1947.

The Simple One boasts of an astounding range of 203km in Eco mode (40-50kmph), which is followed by the newly-launched Ola S1 Pro (181km). Simple Energy has achieved this using a 4.8kWh battery pack. Interestingly, Simple Energy has chosen to equip the e-scooter with a fixed battery and a 7kg removable battery pack that can be charged separately. Paired with this battery pack is a 4.8kW motor with continuous power output of 4.5kW and peak torque of 72Nm. The Simple One is built on a tubular chassis which is suspended onto a telescopic fork and a monoshock. For braking, Simple Energy has deployed a 200mm disc up front and a 190mm disc at the rear aided by combined braking system and as well as regenerative braking. The Simple One runs on 12-inch wheels available in 90/90 (front and rear) as well as 100/80 and 110/80 (front and rear) configurations.

The Simple One is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen display with IP67 certification and Bluetooth connectivity. This console comes with call and music control, onboard navigation, geo-fencing and even a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Simple Energy has also launched its public charging network, called the Simple Loop. Simple Energy will be setting up 300 stations across 13 states in India by partnering with shopping malls, restaurants, and other establishments. The charger will be compatible with electric scooters of other brands as well.

The Simple One has a very youthful and aggressive design and bears uncanny resemblance to the Ather 450X. That said, the Simple One looks far roomier. In fact, the Simple One's 30-litre underseat storage capacity, which is second to the Ola Electric’s market-leading 36-litres storage.

At Rs 1.10 lakh, the Simple One has been aggressively priced. At this price point, it stacks right in between the newly-launched Ola Electric S1 and the Ather 450X but delivers better performance than both the e-scooters. Will its real-world riding experience be as enticing as the Ather’s? Stay tuned for our first ride review.
