Simple One Electric Scooter: Pre-launch Wrapup
Simple Energy is all set to launch its first electric scooter this Independence Day, and here’s EVERYTHING you need to know
Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy will launch its first electric scooter on Independence Day this Sunday. If you have missed out on any news related to the Simple One electric scooter, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s what we know so far:
Expected Price And Booking Details
Simple Energy has said that it will price the Simple One between Rs 1,10,000 and Rs 1,20,000 (ex-showroom). Pre-bookings for the electric scooter will open on the launch date, i.e., August 15, on the manufacturer’s official website. Simple Energy has given a patriotic feel to the bookings, which you can read more about it here.
Range And Performance-related Information
The Simple One has managed to achieve over 230km at ARAI (Automotive Research Association Of India), an organisation that certifies mileage and range for ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and electric vehicles in India. It gets a claimed range of 240km in Eco mode, which is probably achieved at very low cruising speeds.
But that doesn’t mean the electric scooter is a lousy performer; the company claims it can accelerate from 0-50kmph in 3.6 seconds and that its top speed is 100kmph. The electric scooter was spotted testing at a closed circuit in April, which you can read more about here.
Battery details and features list
The Simple One will be powered by a removable 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack that has been designed keeping Indian conditions in mind. The battery pack weighs over 6 kilos, featuring a sturdy handle for easier transportation. It can be charged using Simple Energy’s fast-charging station called Simple Loop. Using this, the battery can offer a claimed range of 2.5km for 1 minute of charging. The company plans to establish 300 fast-charging stations across the country in the coming months.
The electric scooter will also have one of the largest underseat storage capacities in its segment - 30 litres, to be precise. Apart from this, it will feature a touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, onboard navigation, and all-LED lighting system. You can learn more about the underseat storage and charging details in our exclusive report here.
Production Details & Rivals
Simple Energy will be manufacturing the Simple One at its production facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The company plans to make 10 lakh units per year, and the electric scooter will be available across 13 states in the first phase. Check out more details here.
The Simple One will primarily compete with the Ather 450 Plus. Other alternatives include the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube Electric, and the Ola electric scooter, which will also be launched on the same day as the Simple One.
