Sporty 125cc Scooters Battle It Out, In Images

How does the Honda Dio 125, the bigger sibling of the OG ssporty scooter, fare against the TVS NTorq 125 Race XP, today’s sportiest Indian scooter?

In a surprising turn of events, Honda has launched India’s OG sporty scooter, the Dio, in a bigger 125cc avatar, called Dio 125. This puts it against the sportiest 125cc Indian scooter – the TVS NTorq 125 Race XP. Here’s how both scooters compare in images

While the Honda Dio 125 retains the same clean and sporty silhouette as the Dio 110, it gets a more muscular styling. It is beefy and features cladding all around the body.

TVS NTorq is famous for its aggressive design language with sharp lines from front to back. Adding to that sporty appeal are the range of flashy graphics and colour schemes.

Powering the Honda Dio 125 is the same 123.97cc air-cooled mill with Idling Stop System, as the Honda Grazia. It even makes the same output figures as the Grazia – 8.25PS and 10.3Nm.

Putting the Race DNA in the Race XP is the 125cc single-cylinder motor belting out 10.2PS and 10.8Nm, 0.8PS and 0.3Nm more than the other variants. This makes it the most powerful 125cc scooter in India.

The underpinnings on both scooters are more or less the same – telescopic fork and monoshock suspension, with a front disc and rear drum brake. However, the Dio 125 gets three-step preload adjustability in its monoshock.

When it comes to features, both scooters come packed with fancy equipment. However, the NTorq boasts a whole lot of useful features including Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and even ride modes, whereas the Dio 125 misses out on all of the above. Instead, it gets what Honda calls “smart features” which gives the rider a smart key allowing them to remotely unlock, start and immobilise the scooter.

With a price tag of Rs 83,400 (Standard variant), and Rs 91,300 (Smart variant), the Honda Dio 125 is certainly more affordable. However, the TVS NTorq Race XP offers more power, performance and features, though at a slightly higher Rs 96,641 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
