Top 5 Best Selling Scooter Companies In January 2022

Modified On Feb 15, 2022 09:00 AM By Aamir Momin for TVS Jupiter 125

Honda India leads the charge, as expected.

With the vast popularity of scooters in the country, we have seen many new additions – ICE and electric – as well as eternal favourites like the Honda Activa maintain their place in the list. In this report, we take a look at the scooter companies that have achieved the highest sales in the country for January 2022.

Brand

Sales

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd

1,75,832

TVS Motor Company

74,200

Suzuki Motorcycle India

57,966

Hero MotoCorp

21,987

Yamaha Motor India

13,251

Leading the sales chart in the scooter segment is Honda 2 wheelers India yet again with sales nearing 2 lakh just for the month of January. And as expected, Honda’s best selling scooter , the Activa, plays a vital role in helping the company maintain the top position, along with the Dio and Grazia.

Securing second position in the scooter segment is the TVS Motor Company with the Jupiter, along with the TVS NTorq performance scooter and its sole electric offering, the TVS iQube. TVS has a vast range of offerings and we can expect it to maintain its position in the top three in the coming months. However, it would like to reduce the gap between itself and Honda, which is at a massive 1 lakh units.

Suzuki, with its 125cc scooter arsenal including the Access, Burgman and Avenis, secures the third position as the best selling scooter company. The Suzuki Access was also the third best selling scooter for the month of December 2021. With the introduction of the new Suzuki Avenis, the Japanese giant will be aiming to close in the gap with TVS.

Even though the Hero Splendor has been the best selling bike for the longest time, Hero MotoCorp could only manage to bag the fourth position in the scooter segment. The company enjoys the position with the help of its scooters like the Hero Pleasure, Maestro and Destini 125. These are worrying signs for Hero as scooter sales have plummeted over the past few months and it will have to do something drastic to arrest the slide.

With the least amount of sales amongst the top five is Yamaha India with just 13,000 sales. Yamaha’s sales have been reducing over time, even after the launch of the new Yamaha Fascino and RayZR. Interestingly, despite its high asking price, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is a popular scooter but sales have been affected by availability and we hope Yamaha India is able to fix this and improve sales.
