Top 5 Best-selling Scooters In India In May 2022: Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter & More

Modified On Jun 18, 2022 03:55 PM By Nishaad for Honda Activa 6G

Honda’s Activa range sold 7,583 more units than the other four combined

In India, scooters have always been in great demand as they strike a good balance between convenience and affordability. With the number of scooters on offer today, buyers are spoilt for choice.

That said, some scooters have remained eternal favourites. Here, we look at the scooters which dominated the sales chart for May 2022:

Scooter

April 2022 Sales (Units)

May 2022 Sales (Units)

% Increase

Honda Activa (110 + 125)

1,63,357

1,49,407

-8.54

TVS Jupiter (110 + 125

60,957

59,613

-2.21

Suzuki Access 125

32,932

35,709

TVS NTorq 125

25,267

26,005

2.92

Honda Dio

16,033

20,497

27.84

Interestingly, when compared to the figures of April 2022, the overall order and manufacturers are the same for May as well.

The Honda Activa remains the top seller. While the breakup in the sales figures for the Activa 110 and 125 aren't available, we suspect a lion’s share will be down to the Activa 110, which is by far India's best selling scooter.

The next scooter on the list, the Jupiter’s numbers are less than 40 percent of the Activa’s, which shows the Honda’s popularity in India. The Jupiter too saw a tiny downward slump in sales compared to April 2022.

Coming third on the list is the Suzuki Access 125, neatly slotting between TVS and Honda scooters on each side. TVS’ first attempt at a 125cc scooter, the NTorq has proved to be rather popular and consistently racks up good sales figures, grabbing the fourth position in May 2022. The NTorq 125 XT was launched the same month and it could’ve been the driving force behind its sales.

The fifth on the list is the Honda Dio, which managed the highest growth among the five. One of the reasons for its sales could be its sporty styling and the fact that the latest gen gets a telescopic fork and an external fuel filler cap among other features.
