TVS iQube Electric Gets More Affordable Due To Revised FAME 2 Subsidy

Modified On Jun 16, 2021 03:00 PM By Jehan Adil Darukhanawala for TVS iQube

It is now priced quite close to the Rs 1 lakh mark

Courtesy of the government’s revised FAME 2 subsidy scheme, the TVS iQube Electric is now Rs 11,250 more affordable than before. The updated prices are as follows:

City

Price

Delhi

Rs. 100,777

Bengaluru

Rs. 110,506

Now that Rs 5000 more subsidy is offered per kWh, we can expect more electric brands to slash prices of their offerings that are eligible for the benefits. We had already learnt about the revised prices of the Ather 450X a couple of days ago. If this reduction in asking price develops into a trend, that would undoubtedly boost EV adoption, especially considering that fuel prices have shot past the Rs 100 mark in multiple states.

TVS is already in the process of expanding the iQube’s availability. In fact, the Hosur-based company recently signed an MoU with Convergence Energy as part of its plans to expand the iQube's footprint to 20 cities this fiscal. The reduced pricing, coming on the back of this outreach programme, should undoubtedly bolster the iQube’s market potential.

Initially, it was only on sale in Bengaluru, with Delhi getting added to the map earlier this year. We expect TVS to roll out the scooter in more electric-friendly cities like Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, and Coimbatore soon.
