TVS Sales For April 2021: Covid-19 Acts As A Stumbling Block Once Again
The ongoing pandemic has taken a toll on the company's overall sales
TVS Motors concluded the previous financial year with a remarkable (domestic) Year-on-Year (YoY) growth of over 114 percent. In fact, it sold over 2 lakh two-wheelers in March alone. However, that upward curve has nosedived in April due to the ongoing second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last month, the company only sold 1,31,386 bikes and scooters in the domestic market, a massive drop from March.

Hopefully, sales will improve gradually once the localised lockdowns are lifted. Fortunately, India seems to have turned a corner now, registering a drop in the active cases for days on the trot.
If we consider model-wise sales, the TVS Jupiter still tops the list with 25,570 units sold last month. The Apache range comes in second (since the sales figures comprise the sum of all the models sold under each range). The company recently updated the RTR 200 with adjustable suspension, ride modes, and adjustable brake and clutch levers. The same goes for the RTR 160 4V, which has become the most powerful bike in its segment post the update.
The company’s workhorse, the TVS XL, is the go-to machine for customers looking for a utilitarian, rugged, and reliable moped. The sales figures speak for themselves.
The iQube seems to be doing fairly well for an electric with over 300 units sold last month across Delhi and Bengaluru.
TVS was all set to launch the 2021 Apache RR 310 on April 7. However, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases across the country and the lockdown-like restrictions, TVS has postponed the launch event. Expect to see the bike as soon as these stay-at-home orders are eased.
