Lots of two-wheelers got new variants and subtle updates

July saw the two-wheeler industry bouncing back from a lull with quite a few launches. It was not quite the blockbuster month that we had hoped for, as the arrival of a few of the hotly anticipated bikes and scooters was delayed. Nevertheless, we are glad that we got these few:

Scooters

TVS NTorq 125 Race XP

After the initial punch went missing on the BS6 model, TVS has tried to rectify the issue with a more powerful version of the NTorq 125, called the NTorq 125 Race XP. Aside from the snazzy graphics, the NTorq’s 3-valve motor arrives in a higher state of tune and with rider modes. Know all about the sportiest NTorq ever made in this story.

Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid

India’s first micro-hybrid scooter officially went on sale in July. The Yamaha Fascino 125 looks like its former self as most of the updates are under the skin. Thankfully, the price premium is not too steep for the new model.

2021 Hero Maestro Edge 125

Hero’s family 125cc scooter has undergone a minor nip and tuck with connectivity features also added to the mix. New colours and a redesigned front-end will be part of all three variants of the Maestro Edge 125 but the smartphone connectivity function is only available in the top trim. Here’s what the scooter now looks like.

Commuters

Hero Glamour Xtec

The Maestro wasn’t the only Hero product that received a minor update, the bikemaker also kitted out its swanky 125cc commuter, the Glamour 125, with a new full-digital console. It is the same unit that one finds on the likes of Hero XPulse 200 and Xtreme 200S. It has the option to connect your smartphone to enable call alerts and turn-by-turn navigation.

Yamaha FZ25 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition

While we would’ve liked to see it first on the R15 v3, Yamaha India has gone and slapped on its MotoGP colours on the FZ25. These special colours arrive for a premium of Rs 2,000 over the standard model. There are no other changes to the bike.

Big Bikes

Benelli 502C

After quite a long time, Benelli has launched a new motorcycle. It is the 502C urban cruiser, which is the third bike based on the company’s parallel-twin 500cc engine platform. It is decently priced, with no real competition to fend off.

Ducati Multistrada V4

Trust the Italians to come up with something as completely bonkers as an ADV with a V4 engine that puts out 170PS. The Ducati Multistrada V4 finally washed up on our shores and boy is it a phenom. It is big, fast and has a tonne of electronic rider aids, including car-like adaptive cruise control. Know more about the new Multistrada V4 here.

2021 BMW R 1250 GS

New colours, improved electronic rider aids and optional adaptive lights are what one gets on the 2021 model of the BMW R 1250 GS. The grand daddy of adventure motorcycles continues to bear the large 1254cc liquid-cooled boxer engine. What you do now get is the special ‘40 Years Of GS’ colour edition. Check out what’s new in detail here.

Electrics

Gravton Quanta

800km in just Rs 80. That’s a tall claim from Hyderabad-based Gravton Motors who launched its first offering, the Quanta, in July. It is pretty much a hybrid between a scooter and a moped with a claimed range of 320km. Top speed of the Quanta is 70kmph and it comes with a price tag of Rs 99,000 (ex-showroom, without FAME 2 subsidy).
