The past six days has been quite interesting with new bikes and scooters being introduced and manufacturers announcing future plans for the Indian two-wheeler space. And just in case you missed out, here’s a summary of all the action that took place in the two-wheeler segment.
Jawa, Jawa Forty Two launched with dual-channel ABS
Both the Jawa and Forty Two were first launched with single-channel ABS, which was a bit disappointing. Now however, the company has introduced the safety net of dual-channel ABS for both the bikes. Deliveries for this version will commence post June 2019. Customers who’ve already booked the single-channel variant need not worry as they can easily upgrade to the safer braking system, albeit for a premium. Here’s everything you need to know.
New Jawa dealerships opened in Pune and Bengaluru; Delhi next
Jawa launched its first two dealerships in Baner and Chinchwad, following which the next three have been put up in Bengaluru. Reportedly, the company intends to setup up its next batch of dealerships in Delhi. Head here for more information.
KTM 390 ADV & 790 Duke India launch details emerge
Recent development suggests that the Austrian manufacturer will make a formal announcement on the launch of the 390 Adventure by March 2019. Moreover, according to our sources, the KTM 790 Duke will also find its way to India by mid 2019. Click here for more information.
The news doesn’t end there though, the manufacturer will also be launching switchable dual-channel ABS on the KTM 250 Duke. Reportedly, the bike will be launched in January 2019. More details available here.
More powerful Bajaj V15 reaches dealerships
A slightly more powerful version of the V15 has hit Bajaj dealerships across the country. While the bike remains largely unchanged, Bajaj has fiddled with the engine, which now produces 13PS at 8000rpm and 13Nm of torque at 6000rpm. For more details, head here.
Lambretta to launch an electric scooter at Auto Expo 2020
The Italian scooter manufacturer has announced that its going to launch an e-scooter in India by 2020. To accomplish this task, the company will be tying up with Lohia Auto and Bird Group to set up its manufacturing facility in Mumbai. Essentially, the Indian facility will act as a production hub for Lambretta scooters, which will then be exported to Asian and African markets. For more information, click here.
Okinawa i-Praise pre-bookings begin
Okinawa has announced that you can now book its latest offering, the i-Praise, for a token amount of Rs 5,000. The pre-bookings can be made across the company’s 200 dealerships spread across the country. In terms of updates, the i-Praise features a lithium-ion battery instead of the lead-acid unit, helping reduce weight by up to 40 per cent.
