From being merely a more practical mode of transportation to a convenient, feature-packed, eyeball-grabbing city slicker, the scooter in India has come a long way. So, this Women's Day, if you are looking forward to getting one for yourself, here are a few options that you can choose from.

TVS Scooty Pep+
The TVS Scooty Pep+ is a pint-sized 87cc lightweight scooter that is offered in six colours: Aqua Matte, Coral Matte, Frost Black, Nero Blue, Princess Pink and Silver Brown. Out of these six, the Princess Pink and Silver Brown paint schemes really stand out as the former gets flowers graphics on its apron and side body panels while the other one sports an elegant chocolate brown colour that is complemented by a contrasting silver paint scheme.

The scooter is one of the lightest in the country, tipping the scales at just 93kg kerb. It is available in three variants: Gloss Series, Matte Edition and Princess Pink. The former is priced at Rs 58,734 while the latter two cost Rs 61,634 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Yamaha Fascino 125
The Yamaha Fascino 125 may look delightfully retro but comes with a properly modern, segment-first mild-hybrid technology to offer better fuel efficiency. The icing on the cake is that Yamaha offers as many as nine colours in the disc brake variant and seven in the drum brake model. This includes Vivid Red, Yellow Cocktail, Cyan Blue, Cool Blue Metallic, Metallic Black, Dark Matte Blue, Vivid Red Special, Matte Black Special and Sauve Copper.

Of these, the bright Yellow Cocktail colour is easily noticeable in a crowd while the Suave Copper paint scheme looks classy. Like the Scooty Pep Plus, this one too is pretty light, tipping the scales at just 99kg kerb, making it the lightest 125cc scooter in India. The price of the Yamaha Fascino ranges from Rs 72,030 (Drum-Cyan Blue) to Rs 75,530 (Disc-Sauve Copper) (ex-showroom Delhi).

Ola S1 Pro
Ola Electric made a stylish entry into the EV space with the cute and capable Ola S1 in India. The company offers the electric scooter in a total of ten colour options: Anthracite, Coral Red, Marshmallow, Jet Black, Liquid Silver, Porcelain White, Neo Blue, Millennial Pink, Midnight Blue, and Matte Black. The Millennial Pink and the Marshmallow (Yellow) go really well with the scooter’s design language.. Meanwhile, the Gloss Black paint scheme lends the e-scooter a bold stance. The Ola S1 Pro also comes loaded with features such as keyless operation, hyper mode, reverse mode, hill hold, cruise control, voice control,and a Bluetooth-enabled 7-inch touchscreen with navigation. The Ola S1 Pro is powered by a hyperdrive battery that lends it an ARAI riding range of 181km. The company claims that charging this battery for 18 minutes gives the e-scooter a range of 75km. The Ola S1 also sports a generous 36-litre boot space that can hold two open face helmets. The Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1,10,149 (ex-showroom Delhi, including GST and FAME II subsidy).

Vespa VXL125
Nothing screams ‘retro’ like a Vespa. The  Vespa VXL125, in particular, is offered in a choice of seven colours that include Silver, Black, White, Red, Blue, Yellow and Dark Pink (Rouge). Among these, the bright yellow paint scheme and the scooter’s classic styling go like two peas in a pod.

Notable features include an LED headlight, analogue speedometer and a small digital dash that shows fuel gauge, time and odometer reading. The Vespa VXL125 costs Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It may be a little too expensive for its class but nothing comes close if you’re in the market for a quintessential retro scooter.

Ather 450X

The Ather 450X is one of the most performance-packed, feature-rich electric scooters in India. The sleek, space-age design  is further complemented by four colour options such as Space Grey, White, and Mint Green.The Mint Green colour in particular, looks eye-catching, elegant, and goes really well with the scooter’s ‘green’ demeanour.

The Ather 450X comes equipped with modern features such as a 7-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and navigation, all-LED lighting, and a generous 22-litre underseat storage. The e-scooter offers a claimed range of 85km on eco mode and takes 5 hours 35 minutes to fully charge.
