Wuyang-Honda NX125 Is The Grazia 125’s Chinese Sibling
The NX125 aims to strike the right balance between sportiness and practicality
Wuyang-Honda, the Chinese arm of the bike maker, has introduced the 2021 NX125 in China. This scooter comes days after the Honda Elite 125 debuted in Brazil, making us wonder if it is time for Honda India to update the Grazia 125?
The Wuyang-Honda NX125 is targeted at the youth, and it is evident from its sporty styling. Everything has been styled to appeal to younger riders, from its swooping LED headlights to the aggressive body lines. Most importantly, its sportiness doesn't come at the cost of practicality.
The NX125 features two pockets up front big enough to store your phone (or other belongings), and it comes with a USB charger as well. This scooter even gets a maxi-scooter-like floorboard for more comfort on long rides. Honda has equipped it with a negative-lit digital instrument console with all the essential information.
The Honda NX125 uses a fuel-injected 125cc engine developing 9.8PS at 7500rpm and 9.87Nm at 6000rpm. This is a tad more than what the Honda Grazia 125 produces from its 125cc engine.
The NX125 rides on a telescopic fork and a monoshock, paired with a 12-inch front wheel and a 10-inch rear wheel. There's a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Interestingly, at 106kg, the Honda NX125 weighs as much as the Grazia, but the former has a bigger 6-litre fuel tank (the Grazia's is 5.5 litres).
The Honda NX125 retails at CNY 9,590 (roughly Rs 1.11 lakh). This is over Rs 26,000 more than the Honda Grazia 125. While the Indian scooter has been raking in decent sales, it has been overshadowed by the TVS NTorq 125, that too by a huge margin. So, we're thinking perhaps now is the time to give the Grazia a makeover.
