Yamaha Aerox 155 India Launch Tomorrow

The Japanese two-wheeler giant has teased the upcoming 155cc scooter on its social media handles

The type approval documents have been leaked already.  It will be powered by the same liquid-cooled 155cc single-cylinder motor as the Yamaha R15.  Expect the price to be around Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Yamaha India is all set to launch a brand new offering from its scooter portfolio for the Indian market. Suspected to be the Aerox 155, the upcoming maxi-scooter has been teased on the company’s social media handle. The Yamaha Aerox 155 will be the most powerful and expensive scooter offering from the Japanese giant in the Indian market. 

The previously leaked type approval documents suggest that the new Yamaha scooter will be powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor, the same as its faired sibling (also to be launched tomorrow in a new avatar). However, compared to the Indonesian model that makes 15.3PS, the India-spec model has been detuned to produce 14.95PS. The torque figures aren’t out yet but expect it to be a bit low as well.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 gets a mean-looking fascia and its overall styling is quite aggressive, which should appeal to the youth. And, it also offers decent features like LED illumination and an LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity using the Y-connect app. Not to mention, it gets sophisticated underpinnings as well. It’s sprung by a telescopic fork and twin gas-charged rear shocks and rolls on 14-inch wheels. 

However, none of this would come cheap. So, expect Yamaha to price the Aerox 155 around Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom) to ruffle the feathers in its rival’s nest, the Aprilia SXR 160.
