The fastest scooter in the country has arrived, but does it come at the cost of fuel efficiency? Read our review to know more!

Yamaha India has finally introduced its most powerful and expensive maxi-scooter, the Aerox 155. The Yamaha R15 V4-based scooter is offered in two variants: Standard and Moto GP, and it's available in three colour options: Racing Blue, Grey Vermillion, and Monster Energy.

We recently got to test the scooter, and here's a detailed review in images.



The Yamaha Aerox 155 is a sharp, stylish, and rugged-looking maxi-scooter. The fascia looks distinct, thanks to the design of its split-type LED headlamp, LED DRL's, and apron-mounted indicators.



Moving on to the side, you notice that the scooter looks quite sharp and chunky, thanks to its big side body panels and streamlined design. Meanwhile, the rear seems sleek and wide, and it has a compact LED taillight.



The Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine as the YZF-R15 Version 4.0. This engine, further assisted by VVA, churns out 15PS and 13.9Nm, and these figures are equally impressive on paper and in the real world.



In our performance test, we learnt that the scooter has a strong mid-range and sprints from 0-80kmph in 10.91 seconds. It can also clock speeds of over 100kmph; in one of our runs, we witnessed the speedometer hit the 120kmph mark.



The Yamaha Aerox 155 offers not only impressive performance but also a refined and frugal engine. In our mileage test, the maxi-scooter delivered 48.625kmpl on the highway and 42.26kmpl in the city. Although if you ride it more aggressively, the mileage may drop to around 30-35kmpl.



On the features front, it gets an idle-stop/start system, silent engine start, a step-up-type seat, a storage space with a USB charging port, an external fuel filler lid, side stand engine cut-off, 24.5-litre under-seat storage, and single-channel ABS.



It also comes equipped with a 5.8-inch fully digital Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster that can be paired with your smartphone via the Yamaha Connect X app. The app displays fuel consumption, maintenance recommendation, last parking location, malfunction notification, and eco-friendly riding indicator. However, the maxi-scooter misses out on turn-by-turn navigation.



The ride is taken care of by a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. This suspension setup is tuned to be on the stiffer side, so whenever you take the Aerox 155 through a bad patch of the road, you will have to take it a bit slow. However, the harsh ride quality indeed lends stability and brilliant handling dynamics to the scooter.



The stopping power on the Yamaha Aerox 155 surely could have been better. Even though it mounts a 230mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear, the brake bite and feel is lacking. And despite the ABS, the front end does lock a bit under heavy braking.



The Yamaha Aerox 155 is priced at Rs 1.29 lakh and 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively, for the standard and MotoGP edition. So if you are looking for a scooter at this price point that gets a unique design and spectacular performance (and if you are willing to compromise a bit on practicality and comfort), the Aerox 155 surely deserves your attention.
