Yamaha Aerox 155 vs Honda Vario 160: Photo Comparison

The new Honda Vario 160 gets keyless go and produces more power than our very own Aerox 155

Honda Indonesia has launched the seventh-generation Vario 160 with some significant updates. Let's see how the new 160cc sporty scooter fares against our very own Yamaha Aerox 155 in this visual comparison. 

We’ll start with the design.

Both scooters look sharp and sporty, thanks to their edgy body panels. The Aerox 155 features a split-type LED setup with LED DRLs, whereas the Vario 160 has an overly aggressive fascia with a new LED headlight and LED DRLs extending all the way to the top of the apron.

Moving to the side, you'll notice both scooters feature sharp body panels and a single-piece seat. The Aerox 155's graphics cover its side profile completely, while the Vario 160 only gets a 'Honda' badge and the 'Vario 160' sticker. Also, the Aerox 155 has a centre hump, while the Vario 160 gets a flat footboard.

Now, to the features. The Aerox 155 gets a front pocket with a USB charging port, side stand engine cut-off, generous 24.5-litre under-seat storage, and a 5.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity as standard. Meanwhile, the Vario 160 gets an apron-mounted cubby hole (left) with a USB charger, keyless operation, a 5V charging port, relatively smaller 18-litre under-seat storage, and a digital instrument cluster (without smartphone connectivity) that displays the speed, mileage, time, fuel consumption, battery voltage, oil change indicator, and trip meter.

The Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled engine assisted by VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) that puts out 15PS and 13.9Nm. This motor also features an idle-stop/start system and a silent starter. Meanwhile, the Vario 160 uses a new 160cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 15.4PS and 13.8Nm.

Both the scooters are suspended on a telescopic fork up front. However, while the Aerox uses twin shock absorbers at the rear, the Vario 160 has a monoshock setup.

Braking hardware is identical -- disc brake at both ends. The Aerox 155 gets single-channel ABS as standard, whereas the Vario 160 is available in two variants: one with CBS and the other with dual-channel ABS.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is available in three colours: Racing Blue, Grey Vermillion, and Metallic Blue. It is priced at Rs 1.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the Vario 160 is offered in four colours: Matte White, Active Black, Matte Black, and Matte Red, and as mentioned earlier, it's available in two variants: CBS and dual-channel ABS.
