Just another Japanese dual-purpose motorcycle? Here’s five reason why the Crosser 150 is more than that

Yamaha Brazil has launched its most affordable ADV offering in the form of the Crosser 150 ABS. The bike is highly unlikely to grace Indian shores anytime soon. But here are five key points that make the bike an alluring proposition:

Frugal Engine:
A 2-valve 149cc single-cylinder engine producing 12.36PS and 12.74Nm doesn’t seem too exciting, right? Well, the Yamaha Crosser S 150 ABS may not pack a punch, but it has a neat trick up its sleeve. Its engine can run purely on petrol, or ethanol, or even a mixture of both. When running on ethanol, the ADV belts out 0.1PS more, while the torque remains unchanged.

More Than Just A Commuter:
The Yamaha Crosser 150 looks like a serious, purpose-built machine that can also handle the everyday hustle. From its compact 12-litre tank to the high-mounted exhaust, ADV-like beak and minimal body panels, it is reminiscent of thoroughbred ADVs. That said, the roomy, curved seat, chunky grab rails and luggage rack show comfort, and practicality haven’t been compromised either.

Not Just A Looker:
The Crosser 150 just doesn’t look the part, but also has the underpinnings to back its potential. Yamaha has equipped the bike with a telescopic fork up front with 180mm travel and a link-type monoshock with 160mm travel. Complementing that is the 19/17-inch wire-spoke rim setup shod with Metzeler Tourance tyres.

Featherweight Warrior:
With a kerb weight of 134kg, the Yamaha Crosser 150 is one light motorcycle; however, its seat height of 845mm could be problematic for shorter riders.

Two Variants To Choose From:
The Crosser 150 is available in two variants: 150S (R$ 15,590 or Rs 2.09 lakh) and 150Z (R$ 15,790 or Rs 2.12 lakh). The latter gets a bigger front beak, different paint jobs and fork gaiters as standard.
