[UPDATE: Yamaha has launched the MT-15 at a price of Rs 1.36 Lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi]
- At an expected price of Rs 1.2 lakh, the MT-15 is likely to be Rs 20,000 more affordable than the R15 V3.0.
- Unlike the Indonesia-spec model, the India-spec motorcycle will get conventional telescopic forks and a box-type swingarm.
- It features the same engine, frame and brake setup as the R15 V3.0.
Yamaha is all set to launch its highly anticipated naked motorcycle, the MT-15, on 15 March 2019 and if you are looking to buy one, we have good news for you. Unofficial bookings for the Yamaha MT-15 are already underway for a token amount of Rs 5,000 and the motorcycle has started reaching dealerships as well. The naked motorcycle was spotted at a dealership in the same matte blue shade as before.
The naked motorcycle is powered by the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that we have seen on the R15 V3.0. It develops 19.3PS of power and 14.7Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Braking hardware consists of disc brakes at both ends and as an added safety feature, it will be equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard. The India-spec model will get conventional telescopic forks and a box-type swingarm instead of USD forks and a cast aluminium swingarm.
We expect the MT-15 to be priced at Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will rival the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and the KTM 125 Duke. Click here to find out how the MT-15 fares against its rivals on paper.
