Yamaha Neo’s vs Honda U-Go: Image Comparison
Both the Japanese e-scooters are sleek, funky little runabouts
Honda had filed a design patent for the U-Go electric scooter in India just a few days back, and it looks strikingly similar to the Yamaha Neo’s. Let’s see how they compare in images.
In terms of appearance, both the e-scooters employ a simple, futuristic and minimalistic design language. While the Honda U-Go is sleeker with sharper edges, the Neo’s employs a curvy styling with rounded edges.
While the two might be eerily similar in profile, the headlight gives a better indication of which is which. The U-Go gets a single piece angular LED headlight setup, whereas the Yamaha Neo’s gets a twin slightly rounded LED unit. Nonetheless, both e-scooters look stunning.
Driving the U-Go is a BLDC hub-mounted electric motor in 1200W and 800W capacities, and can reach a claimed top speed of 53kmph. This is mated to a removable 48V 30Ah Lithium-ion battery pack, offering a claimed range of 75km on a single charge. The range can be extended to 130km with a dual battery pack.
The Neo’s, on the other hand, is powered by a 2.3kW hub motor that produces 2.5kW. It is much slower than its rival and can reach a top speed of 40kmph. It gets a 50V 19.2Ah removable lithium-ion battery and can offer a claimed range of just 38.5km (68km with the second battery pack).

Both scooters use a front disc and a rear drum brake setup to bring them to a halt.
In terms of features, the U-Go gets a negative LCD instrument cluster that shows the speed, battery percentage, and odometer reading. Apart from that, it comes with all-LED lighting and for more practicality, it features an apron-mounted hook and a utility box, an apron-mounted USB charging port, a large 26-litre underseat storage, and a spacious 350mm long floorboard.
Yamaha Neo’s on the other hand features a compact LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity via the Yamaha MyRide application. You can receive call and sms alerts, however, both e-scooters miss out on navigation functionality.
The Yamaha Neo’s is priced at an equivalent of Rs 2.76 lakh in Europe and is expected to be priced at around Rs 2.50 lakh in India. The Honda U-Go is priced at an equivalent of around Rs 87,000 in China and is unlikely to launch in India, even though it is the perfect rival for the Neo’s with better numbers. In related news, Yamaha has partnered up with Zypp Electric to lease e-scooters to B2B e-commerce companies. Click here for more details.
