Yamaha Retro Scooter Incoming, Patent Images Leak Online
The scooter will likely be launched in the coming weeks in Indonesia
Patent images of a new Yamaha retro scooter have leaked online. The upcoming model -- rumoured to be launched later this month in Indonesia -- could be the next-generation iteration of the Yamaha Grand Filano, or perhaps, even be an all-new scooter.
The patent image reveals an out-and-out retro design, like the Vespas. The circular headlight is complemented by a boxy apron with oval indicators. The instrument cluster is oval, too, and will likely be a full-LCD unit. It gets utility hooks on the apron and below the seat for extra practicality. There’s also a multifunction switch on the apron, along with a bottle holder on the right and a closed apron compartment on the left. The panels at the rear look minimalistic yet elegant. The back also continues with the oval theme for the tail lamp and indicators.
The upcoming Yamaha retro scooter could be powered by a 125cc air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. Expect it to feature tech such as a stop-start system and silent starter. As far as output figures are concerned, it could produce almost the same power and torque as the India-spec Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid, which makes 8.2PS and 10.3Nm.

It gets a disc up front and a drum at the rear. There's a telescopic front fork and a single rear shock absorber. Just like other Yamaha scooters, expect this one to be lightweight too.
All said and done, the upcoming scooter sounds like a great addition to the Indonesian market. Sadly, we may not see this coming here as Yamaha already offers us the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid.
