Suzuki GSX-S1000 Summary

The 2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has been launched in the UK. It is just about Rs 31,100 dearer than its predecessor in the country, priced at an equivalent of Rs 11.43 lakh. The bike is likely to be launched in India around October, at Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 2021 iteration gets an all-new design, complete with a new sleek LED headlamp, LED tail lamp and indicators. It also gets MotoGP-style winglets complementing the muscular fuel tank extensions. The bike features a 2-litre larger fuel tank (19 litres), wider, repositioned handlebars, and a new seat for better ergonomics. That said, the seat height is still the same, at 810mm. It gets a full-LCD instrument cluster showing all the relevant information.

The motorcycle uses an updated Euro-5-compliant 999cc inline four-cylinder engine, producing 152PS at 11,000rpm and 108Nm at 9,500rpm. The engine internals have been revised for a wider torque curve and a broader spread of power, particularly in the low and mid-range. It works alongside a 6-speed transmission with a bidirectional quickshifter and an assist-and-slipper clutch as standard.

The engine is reined in by a new switchable traction control system with five levels, three engine maps, Suzuki Easy Start System, and a low-rpm assist. The bike uses the same twin-spar aluminium frame as before. It’s suspended on a fully-adjustable KYB inverted fork and a preload and rebound-adjustable rear monoshock, both with updated settings. Braking is courtesy the twin 310 discs (with Brembo monobloc caliper) and a rear disc with standard dual-channel ABS.

The motorcycle will rival the upcoming Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the already-existing Triumph Street Triple 1200 and the Kawasaki ZH2.
