Triumph Thruxton Summary
The Triumph Thruxton R is a cafe racer based on the Bonneville family. It is a gorgeous looking motorcycle with cafe racer design elements in the form of a round headlamp, clip ons, sculpted fuel tank, minimal body panels, rearset footpegs, solo seat, rear cowl and upswept exhausts. The Thruxton R gets a host of modern features like ride-by-wire, rider modes, traction control and ABS.
The 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel twin motor delivers 97PS and 112Nm of torque with 100Nm available from as low as 2500rpm. The sporty frame combined with the top spec suspension parts make this a highly involving motorcycle. Ride quality, despite its sporty intentions, is quite good as are the ergonomics.
The Thruxton R is priced at Rs 11.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is not exactly a practical everyday bike but that can be forgiven for its performance and rider involvement.

Overview
The Triumph Thruxton R is a cafe racer based on the Bonneville family. It is a gorgeous looking motorcycle with cafe racer design elements in the form of a round headlamp, clip ons, sculpted fuel tank, minimal body panels, rearset footpegs, solo seat, rear cowl and upswept exhausts. The design is accentuated by the gold coloured forks upfront that gives it a premium and sporty look. Triumph offers a host of accessories for the bike that also includes a beautifully crafted 'Bullet' fairing. Despite the vintage design, the Thruxton R gets a host of modern features like ride-by-wire, rider modes, traction control and ABS.
Of Triumph's Thruxton range, in India, we get the top of the line Thruxton R that comes with fully adjustable Showa big piston front forks and twin Ohlins rear shocks, Brembo Monoblocs and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres, and other cosmetic and anodised parts.
The 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel twin motor is based on the Bonneville T120 but unlike the T120's 'High Torque' configuration, the Thruxton R gets 'High Power' state of tune. It makes 97PS and 112Nm of torque with 100Nm available from as low as 2500rpm. The bike gets a lighter crank so it revs quicker as well.
While the frame is similar to the Bonneville T120, the rake angle is sharper and the swingarm is shorter as well. This combined with the top spec suspension parts make this a highly involving motorcycle. Ride quality, despite its sporty intentions, is quite good and the ergonomics too are comfortable.
The Thruxton R is priced at Rs 11.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is a must-have if you are into collecting bikes. It is a bit compromised as an everyday bike but that can be forgiven for its performance and rider involvement.
