Jupiter 125 Expert Review

BikeDekho Experts
The Jupiter 125 stands out with its reliable performance and easy handling. However, its real strength is the comfortable ride quality and many useful features. With the recent addition of the SmartXonnect variant with the connectivity features and TFT instrument console, its already huge appeal has only just gotten bigger.

Overview

The TVS Jupiter 125 is a popular model preferred by buyers who want a practical scooter that is easy, comfortable to ride and offers decent performance as well. Competing with popular models like Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125, the Jupiter 125 is a strong contender in the executive 125cc scooter segment.

Design

The TVS Jupiter 125 features an LED headlight on its handlebar and daytime running lights with chrome garnish on the front apron. It also has an LED tail lamp and clear lens turn indicators. The build quality is top-notch, with switches that feel premium and of good build quality. The Jupiter 125 comes standard with a body-coloured pillion grab rail, which also comes affixed with a soft pillion backrest in the top variant.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

The TVS Jupiter 125 runs on a single-cylinder, air-cooled 124.8cc engine, which produces a maximum power output of 8.15 PS @6500 rpm and a maximum torque output of 10.5Nm @4500 rpm.

With efficient tuning for city speeds, this engine of the Jupiter 125 provides fuel efficiency figures of 57.27 kmpl in city conditions and approximately 52.91 kmpl on highways.

The Jupiter 125 feels lively to ride with smooth and steady acceleration from 20 to 60 kmph, making it ideal for city commuting. Beyond 70kmph, its acceleration gets a bit lazy till it reaches a top speed of around 90 kmph.

TVS Jupiter 125 Review Performance

Handling & Ride Quality

Since the TVS Jupiter 125 weighs just 109kg, riding it feels effortless and the handling feels quite agile when riding through city traffic. Whether you're navigating through tight turns or leaning into corners at faster speeds, this scooter feels sure-footed due to its larger 12-inch alloy wheels.

The Jupiter 125 has gas-charged rear shocks with 3-steps of preload adjustability a— a unique feature in this class that allows easy adjustment for riders of different weights. The scooter offers a comfortable ride and effortlessly tackles bumps and uneven roads.

The scooter has 130mm drum brakes as standard at both ends, with the higher variants getting an optional 220mm front disc brake that offers improved braking performance. Additionally, the scooter includes a combined braking system as a standard feature for improved safety when braking on loose or slippery surfaces.

TVS Jupiter 125 Review handling

Comfort

The TVS Jupiter 125's seat is broad and well-padded, offering comfort to both rider and passenger. Notably, the Jupiter 125 features the longest seat in its class, 65mm longer than the Jupiter 110. This scooter provides adequate space for tall riders, featuring a wide handlebar and a roomy floorboard. The TVS Jupiter 125 provides an upright riding stance with a high-set handlebar. Despite having the lowest seat height in its class at 765mm, the broad seat may pose some challenge for shorter riders for getting both their feet on the ground.

TVS Jupiter 125 Review Riding Posture

Features

The TVS Jupiter 125 has an idle stop/start system (which atomatically kills the engine when the scooter is idling at a stop, and restarts it when you open the throttle), an under-seat LED light, a brake lock, and an optional USB charging port. The speedometer is analogue, while other details like mileage, distance to empty, and a side-stand indicator are displayed on an LCD panel.

TVS Jupiter 125 Review Underseat Storage

However, the range-topping SmartXonnect variant has a more modern TFT instrument console with two screens. This console gets smartphone connectivity with call and SMS alerts, music controls, turn-by-turn navigation with voice assist, and real-time weather, news, and sports updates.

The TVS Jupiter 125 has gained popularity for its massive 33-litre underseat storage (the biggest in its class), due to its fuel tank being located under the footboard. This results in the fuel filler cap being placed beneath the handlebar, allowing for convenient access with your key. This feature enables you to refill the tank at a petrol pump without getting off the scooter. There's also a 2-litre cubby hole under the handlebar for storing small items, along with an optional USB charging port.

Should you buy

The TVS Jupiter 125 is an excellent choice if you're seeking a comfortable scooter that performs well for daily commuting and has good mileage for a 125cc scooter. The prime reasons that make it different from other scooters is its equipment list, making it a practical scooter for most riders.

TVS Jupiter 125 Pros and Cons
