Yamaha Fazer-FI Summary
Our sources have confirmed that the Yamaha Fazer is all set to receive single-channel ABS from February 2019 onwards. Yamaha is likely to price the Fazer ABS at a premium of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 over its non-ABS variant. The move will also make the Fazer compliant with the upcoming safety regulations that mandate all two-wheelers above 125cc to have ABS.
Yamaha Fazer is an entry-level sports tourer introduced by Yamaha back in 2009 after launching its urban street bike, FZ in the Indian market. Since then, the bike has gone through a couple of cosmetic touch-ups in order to match with the pace and competition going on in the giant Indian two-wheeler industry. The front section of the bike is commanded by large twin headlamps that gives the Fazer a bold stance. The masculine fuel tank and the sporty step up seat is shared with its naked sibling, the FZ-S. The rear gets a small and stylish tail lamp unit along with other design elements that are also shared with the Yamaha FZ-S.
The fuel injected motor on the Tamaha Fazer comes with Yamaha’s Blue Core Engine technology, which, as the comapny claims, improves mileage. Mated to a five-speed transmission, the engine develops a maximum power of 12.9bhp at 8000rpm with peak torque of 12.8Nm at 6000rpm.
The suspension duties are carried out by telescopic fork upfront and monocross suspension at the rear end. Braking system includes a 267mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear. The bike progresses on fat 100/80-17 front and 140/60-R17 rear tyre.
The Yamaha Fazer-FI is available in black, red and white, and currently retails at Rs 89,143 (ex-Delhi).
