Yamaha FZ S FI (V 2.0) Summary
The 2019 Yamaha FZ was spotted testing near Chennai. Going by the spy shots, the motorcycle looks beefier than before and packs better features as well. Yamaha has made the headlamp, which is expected to get LED illumination, sleeker as well. The front fender has also been redesigned, hinting at the possibility of a fatter front tyre. The fuel tank is now more muscular and the tank extensions go further down, almost covering the sides of the engine. Surprisingly, the bike spotted testing was equipped with a single piece unit. It could be possible that the test mule is a rider and pillion-friendly variant, a la the Yamaha YZF-R15 S.
Coming to the rear, the licence plate holder is shorter, while the tyre hugger retains practicality without compromising on the looks. The exhaust now looks fatter and stubbier, and is reminiscent to the first-gen FZ. It also packs a new heat shield inspired by the FZ25. The powerplant is likely to be air-cooled and fuel injected, like the current-gen motorcycle. The current-gen FZ produces 13.2PS at 8000rpm and 12.8Nm at 6000rpm from its 149cc single-cylinder engine. Brakes include discs on both ends, and expect Yamaha to offer at least a single-channel ABS when it launches the motorcycle. Speaking of which, the bike is expected to enter our markets in early 2019. It will go up against the Suzuki Gixxer, Honda CB Hornet 160R, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

FZ S FI (V 2.0) Expert Review
Overview
On 31 Aug 2017, Yamaha introduced a new variant called the 'Dark Night' for the FZ-S FI and you have to shell out Rs 1000 more for this edition. The new edition is a cosmetic update and gets a matte black paint scheme with chrome graphics. The FZ-S now retails at Rs 83,042 (ex-Delhi), a Rs 632 drop over the previous price of Rs 83,674. Yamaha FZ-S is one of the most successful street motorcycles that comes with a muscular body design and promises superior performance. The bike is a descendant of the iconic streetbike, Yamaha FZ1 that caters high-end motorcycle admirers.
Yamaha FZs is powered by a 153cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. It develops a maximum power of 13.8bhp at 7,500rpm with a peak torque of 13.6Nm at 6,000rpm. On the other hand, FZ-S FI gets its power from a 149cc, four-stroke, air-cooled, fuel injected engine that generates a peak power of 12.9bhp at 8,000rpm with a maximum torque of 12.8Nm at 6,000rpm. It is mated to a five-speed transmission system and uses wet multiplate clutch setup. Yamaha FZs V2.0 employs Yamaha “Blue Core” engine concept that ensures efficient combustion and cooling with a considerable reduction in power loss. With this technology in hand, the manufacturer claims an improved fuel economy for the bike.
Both bikes are built on a diamond chassis and runs on 100/80-17 front and 140/60-17 rear tubeless tyres with black alloy wheels. Yamaha has equipped FZs series with telescopic forks at the front with monocross single shock absorber at the rear. The bikes are fitted with disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear end to give an enhanced braking.
Yamaha FZs as said earlier, is one of the most beautifully crafted motorcycles the country has seen so far. The front profile of the bike incorporates a triangular shaped headlamp section with a positioning light at the top. A small black visor crowned above gives the bike a pure naked appearance. Coming to the rear, Yamaha FZ-S has a sporty single seat whereas FZs V2.0 comes with a split seat. The rear grab rails are impressively mounted on the rear side panels marking a striking appearance. The tail end section of FZs V2.0 is given a facelift, which now comes with a small tail lamp and a tyre hugger that looks ravishing. The instrument console of the bike is purely digital that displays speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and tripmeter.

Its all features are great i loved to ride this bike if i buy any time i will buy this bike only not any other bike i like to ride on it its riding is very smooth and no need to control that much more it is already as like fully automatic controlling while riding there is no any disturbance in flow after sloww down . The amazing point is that it has light on off facility and it is good for night riding no dimming or sharpening light mens it is not connected to accelerator like other bike . In other bike when you release your accelerator or slow down your bike there light also become dim there light depend on accelerator bt in this bike this problem is not there it lights only on key on . No need to start bike for turning on the light.Read More
- Not a good beginners bike
I bought one used. It has no issue's even after 50k kms. The drum brakes are mere suggestions and some times feel like its not doing much. Rear brakes goes from little stopping power to locked tires really quick. The stock 140 isn't the best size as a 150 is more suiting for the bike. It hasn't messed with the mileage that much too. Even after riding comparatively harsh i am getting 51 kmpl Read More
