R NineT Scrambler Expert Review
Overview
The BMW R nineT comes under the German marque’s heritage model range. Classic air-cooled boxer engine, circular headlamp, knobby tyres, off-road friendly ergonomics, and the high-set dual exhaust give the motorcycle a proper scrambler look. The 1170cc, twin-cylinder, air-cooled boxer engine with oil-cooler gives out 110PS at 7750rpm, and 116Nm at 6000rpm. A six-speed transmission transfers the power to the wheel via a shaft drive. The steel tank can hold 17 litres of fuel, which is ideal for long trail/ highway rides.
The R nineT rides on 43mm front telescopic forks and an adjustable BMW Paralever monoshock at the rear. Further augmenting its off-road capability are the 19-inch front and the 17-inch rear alloy wheels shod with 120 and 170-section tyre respectively. Standard ABS and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) keep things in check when pushing the bike to its limits. The Triumph Street Scrambler and the Ducati Scrambler are some of the main rivals for this motorcycle in the Indian market.
