Hero MotoCorp - the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer has made it a practice to roll out a bunch of new two-wheelers each year and most of them come are aimed at the fuel-efficiency conscious buyer. In keeping with this, rumours of a Hero motorcycle equipped with iSmart technology have doing rounds on the internet and the same has been spotted undisguised this time.

From the looks, the bike seems to be a Passion iSmart and is expected to break cover at the upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi. Hero Passion iSmart has been spotted with numerous premium elements such as a sporty split rear grab rail, restyled fuel tank and side panels with an all-new tail lamp. Its muffler has a chrome cover and the handlebar gets a Hero emblem.

Earlier, the Hero Splendor iSmart arrived with the revolutionary i3s technology that automatically shuts off the engine and restarts it automatically with the pressing of clutch in order to save fuel. Hero had even claimed a whopping 102.50kmpl fuel economy for the bike and tagged it the most fuel-efficient two-wheeler in the world. This had led to some controversy as Honda intervened and asked Hero about the authenticity of their claim.

Hence, the tests were conducted one more time and the bike showed lower mileage than what Hero had claimed. Just like the Splendor iSmart, this model will also get the switchable i3s functionality. The company might also claim sky-high mileage figure for this bike too and only time will tell how far the product succeeds when it comes to stretching the number of kilometres per litre.

The bike will come powered by a 110cc, four-stroke engine that will generate 9bhp of power and 9Nm of torque. It sits on a single downtube frame and will come equipped with telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

For braking, the new Passion will receive 130mm and 110mm drum brakes at the front and rear, respectively. Hero might also offer a front disc brake as an option for an improved and powerful braking. The bike might be equipped with tubeless tyres as well to offer more convenience. Expect the bike to have a price tag of around Rs. 55,000, with a wide range of colour options.
