As Yamaha has filed another batch of emission documents with the California Air Research Board (CARB) for its 2016 line-up, which includes the R6, it stated that no other differences will be seen in the forthcoming bike apart from a new set of colors. If sources are to be believed, the old model will be sold alongside 675cc three-cylinder engine bike. The company has to wait until 2017 for any updates to what is now one of the oldest bikes in its lineup.
According to EURO4 emission rules from 1st January 2017, every bike in Europe has to meet their requirements and have ABS but the current model R6 doesn’t meet such regulations, so a complete replacement at this stage is unavoidable. Yamaha had slow sales for its sports bikes, but they picked up a little in 2015 after Yamaha R1.
Current Specifications of the Yamaha R6 are:
Engine: liquid cooled, 4 stroke, forward inclined parallel 4 cylinders, 16 valves, DOHC
Horsepower: 127bhp
Torque: 65.8Nm
Gearbox: 6-speed manual
