One of the leading two-wheeler manufacturers in India, TVS Motors is all set to launch its highest displacement motorcycle in the country, the Apache RTR 200 4V, tomorrow. This will be the company’s fourth offering in Apache RTR fleet after - 160, 180 and 180 ABS. The bike is already turning out to be most searched motorcycle over the internet. The TVS Apache RTR series is already popular and the launch of the RTR 200 4V will further expand its legacy. Like every other TVS two-wheeler, this will also be manufactured at the company’s Hosur facility. Listed below are the seven things that tell everything about the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
1. Design and Features:
Visually, the bike looks inspired from the Draken concept, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. It gets the similar fuel tank but with stylish air scoops, having ‘TVS Racing’ written on the side panels, like any other motorcycle of RTR family. This will be the company’s first motorcycle to have split seats and ‘W’ shaped rear body grab rails. Other features include fully digital instrument console, LED DRLs, sharp and aggressive body design, LED tail lamp, and optional dual-channel ABS.
2. Engine and Performance:
As per the latest specifications, the new Apache RTR 200 4V will be powered by a 197.75cc, single-cylinder, air-cum-oil cooled engine and will be coupled with a 5-speed transmission. The powertrain of the motorcycle is tuned to produce 20.23bhp of power at 8,500rpm and the peak torque of 18.1Nm at 7,500rpm having the ability to attain the top speed of 130kmph. The leaked specs reveal that the bike will not outclass the power of KTM 200 Duke, which means the news surfaced online turned out to be rumours only. The recently teased image shows that the bike will take just 3.9 seconds to reach the mark of 60kmph.
3. First 4 Valve Engine in TVS RTR Series
The bike is named as the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, where 4V symbolizes the number of valves used in the engine. This will be the company’s first motorcycle to get 4 valves engine, rest of the motorcycles in the company’s fleet come with 2 valve engine.
4. Competition:
TVS Apache RTR series is already very popular in the Indian market but was missing in the 200cc motorcycle segment. With the launch of the RTR200, TVS will meet that criteria and will directly rival against the KTM 200 Duke.
5. Safety and Comfort:
The Indian motorcycle maker has not ignored the safety and comfort of the users and are offering with loads of features. For the comfort of the rider, the bike gets telescopic forks up front and mono shock absorber at the rear end. On the safety perspective, the motorcycle boasts 270mm disc at the front and 250mm disc at the rear. Both, front and rear wheels get single-disc brakes while the dual-channel ABS will be optional.
6. Colours:
The TVS Apache RTr 200 4V will be available in six colours namely - Matte Black, Yellow, White, Silver, Red and Glossy Black.
7. Pricing:
It will be manufactured at the company’s Hosur plant. Considering the features and performance it offers, the Apache RTR 200 4V is expected to be priced somewhere close to Rs. 90,000.
