These five scooters are easy to live with thanks to their low seat height.

Over the years, scooters have emerged as the primary means of commuting, at least in urban centres. A prime factor drawing people's attention towards scooters is their low seat height, usually lower than motorcycles, allowing riders to place their feet on the floorboard while riding comfortably. Following are scooters with the lowest seat height sold in India:

1: TVS Scooty Zest: 760mm

The TVS Scooty Zest might not be as feature-rich and modern in its appeal compared to the other 110cc and 125cc scooters on sale. Barring the changes in colour options, the TVS Scooty Zest has remained unchanged since its debut in 2014. However, people looking for scooters with low seat height should check out the Scooty Zest, as it has a seat height of 760mm – the least among all the scooters sold in India. The TVS Scooty Zest is priced between Rs 73,931 and Rs 75,293 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2: Bajaj Chetak: 760mm

Another scooter sold in India, which has the lowest seat height of 760mm, is Bajaj Chetak, the only electric scooter in this list. The Bajaj Chetak recently received a minor tweak with the newly introduced Urbane variant, which gets a few new features and a revised battery setup. However, its low seat height of 760mm has remained unchanged. The new Bajaj Chetak is available from Rs 1.15 lakhs to Rs 1.23 lakhs (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

3: TVS Jupiter: 765mm

Next on this list is TVS Jupiter, one of the highest-selling scooters in the Indian two-wheeler market. Over the years, the TVS Jupiter 110cc has emerged as a preferred unisex scooter among family-oriented buyers for its durable body, reliable engine and features like external fuel filler and 12-inch alloy wheels. However, its low seat height of 765mm has also impressed many potential buyers, making it easy to ride and handle. The TVS Jupiter 110cc range comprises six variants, priced between Rs 73,340 and Rs 89,748 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

4: Honda Dio 110: 765mm

While the Activa continues to be the bread-and-butter model for Honda in India, the sporty-looking Dio scooter has also charmed many people all these years. Along with its snazzy-looking bodywork, attractive colour options and peppy 110cc engine, the current iteration of Honda Dio has also impressed younger buyers with its low seat height of 765mm, making it even more convenient to ride. Available in three variants, the Honda Dio is on sale between Rs 70,211 and Rs 77,712 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

5: Hero Xoom 110: 770mm

The newest entrant in the scooter lineup from Hero MotoCorp, the sporty-looking Xoom 110cc scooter, arrived as a replacement for the Maestro Edge. While the edgy and sporty design and all-LED headlamps and tail lamps of the Hero Xoom are its prime highlights, the scooter is also easy to ride and handle with its large 12-inch wheels and a low seat height of 770mm. The Hero Xoom 110 range is offered in three variants, with their prices ranging between Rs 71,484 and Rs 79,967 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Benefit of Low Seat Height for Scooters

Scooters are primarily perceived as convenient means of commuting on two-wheelers, owing to their light-weighted build, under-seat storage compartment, ample floorboard space and gearless rideability. Along with these attributes, the scooters are also preferred by many for their low seat height, especially those new to riding or short in height. Low seat height in a scooter allows the riders to maintain their balance while riding by letting riders get their feet on the ground easily when coming to a stop.
