Priced at Rs 91,321, the new variant not only gets disc brakes but also an additional new feature
At the 2020 Auto Expo, Piaggio had showcased the 2020 version of its Vespa and Aprilia scooters. Among the many scooters at Piaggio’s stall was the facelifted Aprilia Storm 125 disc brake variant. The Storm 125 was launched as a cheaper alternative to the Aprilia SR 125. It was supposed to be launched in April but the launch of the scooter got delayed due to COVID-19. The 2020 Aprilia Storm 125 disc brake variant has now been launched at Rs 91,321 (ex-showroom Pune).
Apart from the addition of a disc brake, the new variant also features an all-digital instrument console. Cosmetically, the new variant looks identical to the standard SR 125 and is available in two colour options: red and yellow. Powering the scooter is a 125cc, fuel-injected BS6-compliant motor that produces 9.5PS and 9.9Nm of torque.
Unlike the SR 125, the Aprilia Storm 125 rides on smaller 12-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped with cross pattern tyres. Braking hardware includes a 220mm disc which is clamped by a two-piston caliper, while the rear wheel features a drum brake. While the Aprilia SR 150 is equipped with ABS, the Storm 125 gets CBS. The suspension setup: telescopic fork and twin-shock absorbers, has been carried forward from the standard scooter.
The Aprilia Storm 125 doesn’t have any direct rivals with the TVS Ntorq 125 coming close with respect to performance and specifications.
