A closer look at the Noale manufacturer’s maddest naked bike yet

Not happy with bikes like the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and KTM 1290 Super Duke eclipsing its epic Tuono, Aprilia has taken things a step further by launching the Tuono V4 X, firmly putting its supernaked back in the spotlight. Join us as we take a closer look:

The bodywork is super sharp and modern, but the colours adorning it are very retro. This livery traces itself back to the scheme used by Aprilia on its RSV1000R racebikes back at the 2006 edition of the Bol d’Or endurance race.

After Ducati slapped winglets on its Streetfighter, surely Aprilia couldn’t just sit around and do nothing. The Tuono V4 X features massive bi-plane winglets of its own, which look absolutely epic with the brand’s logo plastered all over them.

It definitely needs those winglets, because the 1,077cc V4 motor produces a mind-bending 220PS, making this Tuono one of the most powerful production motorcycles in the world! The full-titanium Akrapovic exhaust system is standard and deserves a great deal of thanks for this power figure.

Thanks to billet aluminium control levers, carbon-fibre bodywork, and forged magnesium wheels from Marchesini, the X tips the scales at just 166kg dry, making it around 20kg lighter than its road-going counterpart.

Don’t for one second think that this is just a straight-line missile, though. When you are eventually faced with a corner, you’ve got a radial master cylinder, nickel-plated GP4 brake calipers and T-Drive rotors, all from Italian brake specialist Brembo, to slow you down.

Throw the bike on its side and the Pirelli superbike slicks will dig in and find traction while the fully-adjustable electronic semi-active suspension from Ohlins flattens the road underneath you and keeps the bike stable.

Unfortunately, only 10 of these wondrous machines will be made available to customers. But with a price tag of €34,900 (Rs 30.55 lakh), we doubt most of us would be able to afford one anyway, so it’s just as well.
