Ather Will Speed Up Charging Time Of 450X Base Variant

The brand is working on a solution-based customer feedback

For someone looking for a simple, effortless e-scooter for daily use, the new Ather 450X without the Pro-pack makes sense. A lot of the 450X’s features are frills and can be lived without, especially considering how much more affordable it (450X without Pro-pack) has become - Rs 98,183 (ex-showroom Delhi Including FAME 2). However, this trim also has an increased home-charging time. Following customer feedback, Ather will soon be looking to address this, possibly in a future update.   

As per the new update, home-charging speed with the Pro Pack takes five hours and 40 minutes for a full charge. However, without the Pro-pack it takes a massive 15 hours and 20 minutes for the same. A 15 hour charge time robs the 450X, or any e-scooter for that matter, of its convenience factor; and the same has been voiced by netizens and potential customers. In response, Ather CEO, Tarun Mehta tweeted that the brand has acknowledged the problem and will be working on a solution soon. Here’s his tweet:

While his tweet did not confirm when the solution will be rolled out, he did mention that the solution won’t come cheap. If Ather manages to fix this super long charging time and keep the cost of convenience in check, the 450X (without the Pro-pack) will retain its value-for-money proposition even with a slight bump in price.

Lastly, we hope that instead of Ather not allowing base variant 450X customers from gaining access to the Ather Grid, it should at least make the service available on a chargeable basis. This will not only give the brand an additional revenue opportunity, it will also give customers more convenience.
