The home grown manufacturer Bajaj Auto will exhibit its new Cruiser Concept at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The new bike will be positioned over the company's Avenger 220 DTS-i, which is a 220cc cruiser. Right now, only two companies are selling lower capacity cruisers in India. Royal Enfield sells its Thunderbird in 350cc and 500cc variants in India.
Taking the benefits of limited choice in the segment, without much updates in appearance, the motorcycle managed to make decent sales number. However, a 220cc motorcycle at an affordable price of Rs. 79,478 (ex-showroom, Delhi) is another reason for the sales.
We expect that the company will use its new technologies from their Pulsar 200NS or most probably it might use a bigger liquid cooled engine with fuel injection and 4-valve from its upcoming Pulsar 375. The new 375cc engine is expected to deliver a maximum power of around 40bhp, which sounds decent for a cruising machine.
Hyosung is also ready to launch its GV250 aka Aquila in India. However, the Bajaj is known for giving high performance at a lower price. So, if the company will introduce this bigger cruiser at an affordable price than others, we expect it can rule the cruiser segment of the Indian market.
This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to BikeDekho for all the updates on the same.
