Guess who is taking baby steps towards the international market? Bajaj Auto is now ready to foray into the Indonesian two-wheeler market with the recently introduced Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS. Bajaj Auto and Kawasaki Heavy Industries have come to agreement where Bajaj will get to sell motorcycles in Indonesia through Kawasaki's network. The coming together of two such mighty two wheeler giants will benefit both the parties, given the success of their existing partnership in the Philippines market. While Kawasaki's board had already given their consent for the alliance on September 12, Bajaj gave a 'go-ahead' to the deal only two days back. Bajaj Auto plans to enter the Indonesian market by mid 2013, where TVS and Honda Motors already enjoy a very substantial share. But with Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS leading the duo's way to Indonesia, the chances are that the alliance will enjoy as much success as they do in Philippines.
After Pulsar 200 NS hits the Indonesian market, the alliance plans to expand their portfolio for Indonesia with the introduction of KTM Duke street fighters and other models. Talking about the Bajaj and Kawasaki in Philippines, the alliance came about almost eight years ago, in 2004. The venture then went on to command a 45 per cent share of the Philippine market, with Bajaj's sales accounting for 35 per cent and Kawasaki sales made up for 10 per cent. But Bajaj has no intentions of stopping any time soon, for they are now looking at expanding the partnership to another seven markets, including Brazil.
