Benelli has launched the Imperiale 400 in India at Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom). This is Benell India's third retro-modern motorcycle after the Leoncino 500 and Leoncino 250 and a direct competitor to the hot-selling Royal Enfield Classic 350. Here are all the details about the Imperiale 400 in detailed images.

The Imperiale 400 looks properly retro with the round headlamp, old-school fuel tank, twin seats and pea-shooter exhaust. However, it has modern features and powertrain under the vintage skin.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 is a re-imagined MotoBi, a historical Benelli motorcycle from the 1950's. Overall the design does manage to capture old-world charm.

We love the fact that the Imperiale 400 gets subtle chrome accents in key areas like the mirrors, turn indicator holders headlamp and tail lamp trim and side pillion grab rail. It makes the motorcycle look understated yet elegant.

The Imperiale 400 is available in three colours: silver, black and red. All of the colours work well with the all-blacked parts of the rest of the motorcycle.

The retro-modern twin-pod instrument console consists of analogue speedometer and tachometer with a digital inset and a digital fuel gauge in between the two pods.

The fuel tank gets rubber knee pads on both sides for better grip. Fuel tank capacity is 12-litres. Like old-school motorcycles, the rider seat is spring-loaded.

The 347cc air-cooled SOHC motor is fuel-injected and delivers 21PS @ 5500rpm and 29Nm @ 4500rpm. It comes with a 5-speed gearbox.

Given its relaxed riding directive, the Imperiale 400 gets simple underpinnings. It consists of a double-cradle frame, conventional 41mm forks and preload-adjustable gas-charged dual shock absorbers.

Keeping with the retro styling, it gets 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels with 110/90 front and 130/80 rear Cordial tube-type tyres. Braking is via a 300mm front disc with two-piston floating calipers and a 240mm rear disc with a single piston caliper. The motorcycle gets dual-channel ABS as standard fitment.

110/90 and 130/80

The Benelli Imperiale competes with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Jawa. The Italian motorcycle is being offered with best-in-class 3-year unlimited kilometres warranty and complimentary service for the first 2 years.
