World's leading adventure motorcycle manufacturer, BMW Motorrad, is planing to bring a new tourer based on its S1000 platform. Company already selling a supersport and a naked motorcycle named BMW S1000RR and BMW S1000R based on the similar platform. Now, a test mule of its adventure version has been spotted during test runs, which looks production ready.

The semi faired, adventure-tourer looks a little different from its siblings, however, the technology remains same. when we take a look at the engine, it's similar to the high-performance, 4-cylinder in-line engine, which also powers the other machines belong to S1000 series. Wheels and discs of the bike are also exactly similar, while the front forks are looking a little different.

The 999cc, water/oil-cooled, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, in-line engine, with four valves per cylinder and two overhead camshafts, churns out 193bhp @13,000rpm in the sport version and 160bhp @11,000rpm in the roadster version, while torque remains same at different revs. However, the adventure tourer needs an engine tuned for smooth and long run. So, the power output will be lower than its siblings, while peak torque will came out at lower rpms.

Apart from these similarity, the new BMW S1000 tourer will follow the tradition of an unique headlamp configuration like the S1000RR and S1000R. It will get all the required features of an adventure touring machine, like rear and side carriages for boot mounting and adjustable wind screen. Price of the bike is expected to be kept between the prices of sport and roadster models, and boot cases will be introduced as the optional accessories with the bike.
