It gets the same power and range figures; however, there’s a catch

Ather has slashed the prices of the 450X electric scooter by a whopping Rs 43,826! This is compared to the previously-existing top-end Ather 450X with Performance pack and the now-introduced base Ather 450X variant without the pro pack. The newly-introduced variant costs Rs 1,14,636, ex-showroom, Bengaluru, and boasts of the same power outputs and range figures; however, there is a catch. If you want all the cool features that the 450X came with initially, then you will have to opt for the Pro Pack, which costs another Rs 30,364. Read on to find out what we are talking about.

The base version, simply called ‘Ather 450X’ replaces the Ather 450 Plus now. Fortunately, the base variant gets the same top speed, performance and range as the normal 450X, but misses out on a lot of features. Here are all the features the Pro Pack offers:

Ride Modes – Base mode gets one standard mode, whereas the Pro Pack offers Warp | Sport | Ride

| Eco | SmartEco.

Fast Charging – 450X Pro pack can be charged 0-80 percent in just 4 h 30 min using a home charger, whereas the base variant will take roughly 12 hours for the same. Base misses out on fast charging and access to Ather grid connectivity.

Smart Console – Both variants get a 7-inch TFT console, but with Pro Pack you also get a multi-colour display, Bluetooth and 4G connectivities, music and call control, themes, auto-indicator off and guide-me-home lights. Base variant gets a simple and basic greyscale display with no connectivity.

Connected features – With Pro pack, you get full fledged Google maps navigation, smartphone connectivity, OTA updates, ride statistics, location tracking, charge monitoring, trip planner and document storage. The base variant misses out on all of the connected features.

Additionally, the 450X Pro Pack also comes with Hill Assist and Park Assist, which the base variant misses out on.

It gets the same 6.4kW (peak) motor making 26Nm and claims a certified range of 146km. The claimed top speed is the same on both variants – 90kmph and has a 3.3 second acceleration time in the 0-40kmph sprint.

The base variant will cater to the customers looking for a no nonsense electric scooter with the same thrilling performance as the top-end version and are okay missing out on fancy, smart features. This is a good move by Ather as other manufacturers like Ola Electric and TVS offer better performance and range in their flagship variants whereas they dial it down in the more affordable variants. While the base Ather 450X ticks all the right boxes, we’d have liked it if Ather had offered fast-charging, and at least one extra riding mode. The direct rival to this would be the Bajaj Chetak (Rs 1,21,933), top-end variant of the Ola S1 (Rs 1,14,999), and TVS iQube standard (Rs 1,12,230), all prices ex-showroom Bengaluru.

Lastly, the Ather 450X Pro Pack variant has witnessed a price drop too, and now costs Rs 1,45,000, ex-showroom Bengaluru, which is Rs 13,462 more affordable.
