With the commencement of BS6 emission norms nearing closer and closer, most manufacturers are gearing up to update their models. Hero MotoCorp is right on the ball, rolling out India’s first BS6-compliant motorcycle in a digital launch later today.
The manufacturer has launched a BS6-compliant Splendor iSmart today. The bike uses a 110cc motor and this is Hero's first fuel-injected engine to feature i3S stop-start technology. Hero claims 10% more torque throughout the rev range as well as increased fuel efficiency. The bike's output now stands at 9PS and 9.89Nm, which means power is 0.5PS lower than before.
Just like India’s first BS6-scooter, the Honda Activa 125, grew in size, the Splendor has grown too. The bike now uses a new diamond-type frame, as a result of which ground clearance has been increased by 15mm to 180mm. Front suspension travel has been upped by 15mm and the wheelbase is now longer by 36mm. Hero has also equipped the new Splendor iSmart with a brighter headlight to aid night riding.
All these changes have also been accompanied by a price hike. The new Splendor is aonly available in one variant with alloy wheels and a 240mm front disc brake, and is priced at Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike will be available at dealerships across the country within the next 3-4 weeks.
