Hero Electric AE-3 e-Trike: All You Need To Know
A complete lowdown on what the Hero AE-3 electric trike is all about
Hero Electric took the wraps off the AE-3 electric trike that took the India two-wheeler EV space by surprise. It offers an impressive range, gets a sophisticated suspension setup and comes packed with features. Here's a complete lowdown on what the scooter's all about.
First-of-its-kind for Hero Electric!
Granted, there are plenty of trikes available in the international market, but very few explored the idea of a scooter based trike, let alone in the electric sector. Hero is the only Indian brand to do so. Weirdly enough though, the AE-3 in intended B2B applications (Business to Business).
Feature-packed:
The scooter isn't low on features either. It comes equipped with a full-digital instrument cluster which gets app connectivity with real-time tracking and geo-fencing, a mobile charger, walk assist and reverse assist (claimed to be up to 26kmph).
Impressive On Paper:
Hero Electric AE-3 employs a 5.5W electric motor and a 4kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a claimed range of 100km and a top speed of 80kmph. You can fully charge the battery pack within five hours, according to the company. Interestingly, the rear wheel is powered by a belt drive with a large pulley.
Gets A Sophisticated Suspension Setup:
Just like the Yamaha Niken, the Hero Electric AE-3 e-trike gets a sophisticated fork upfront, however, it uses a telescopic fork instead of an upside-down unit. Besides, the contraption isn't as complex and advanced as the one on the Niken. That said, the scooter is capable of balancing itself when standing still with the help of the gyroscope-enabled auto-balance park switch.
Premium pricing:
Though Hero electric has kept the AE-3’s price under wraps, we expected the scooter to set you back by around Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom) considering its features and equipment.
