The AE-47 is Hero Electric’s first e-motorcycle for the Indian masses
Electric mobility was the highlight of this year’s auto expo. Be it cars or two-wheelers, you could find an electric vehicle of any shape and size in every stall. But the two-wheeler segment took this term quite seriously as the majority of manufacturers were EV makers. Amongst them, the biggest name was Hero Electric, which unveiled its first all-electric motorcycle, the AE-47. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Features:
By now, you might be well versed with all the features that an electric two-wheeler gets such as LED lights, digital instrument console and so on. So we won’t bore you with the usual stuff. Instead we will focus on what’s different in the AE-47. To help it stand apart in the sea of EVs, Hero Electric has given the AE-47 cruise control. Yes, this small electric motorcycle with a top speed of 85kmph comes with cruise control.

Power:
Powering the AE-47 is a 4kW motor, which is significantly bigger than the 1.5kW motor seen in the Revolt RV400. The manufacturer claims the AE-47 can accelerate from 0-60kmph in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 85kmph. Considering that the AE-47 will mostly be used inside the city limits, we feel 85kmph is more than enough.
Range:
Soon, the term ‘Kitna deti hain?’ will be replaced by ‘Range kya hain?’ While most electric two-wheelers are offering a claimed range of around 80km-100km, the AE-47 has a claimed range of 160km, which is 10km more than the Revolt RV400.
Underpinnings:
The AE-47 uses a USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Brakes include a 290mm front petal disc and a conventional 215mm rear disc with combi braking system. It comes with a 110-section front and 140-section rear Yuanxing tyres manufactured in China. However, we expect the production model to come with locally-sourced tyres.
India launch details:
On paper, the AE-47 seems to be impressive, and we are quite keen on riding one. But we have to wait till the end of this year until Hero Electric officially launches the motorcycle. There’s no official word on the prices yet. Stay tuned to BikeDekho for more updates.
