Post the launch of the HF Deluxe IBS i3S, Hero MotoCorp has now launched the Glamour Fi IBS (Integrated Braking System) and Splendor Plus i3S with IBS. The addition of IBS has resulted in a minor price bump of Rs 200 and Rs 650 for the Glamour Fi and Splendour i3S respectively. Consequently, the Glamour Fi IBS is priced at Rs 68,900, while the Splendor Plus IBS i3S is priced at Rs 54,150 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
IBS or CBS (Combined Braking System) enables riders to apply an equal amount of braking force at both ends by applying only the rear brake. This is an important safety feature for the Indian market, as most two-wheeler riders have the tendency of only using the rear brake and during panic braking. This results in the rear wheel locking up and the bike skidding. IBS also makes the bikes compliant with the upcoming government safety norms which make CBS mandatory for two-wheelers below 125cc. The regulation comes into effect from 1 April 2019. Although Hero continues to sell the non-IBS variant of the Splendor Plus, it’ll most likely be until stocks last.
The Hero Glamour Fi IBS is powered by a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 11.6PS at 7,500rpm and 11Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The Splendor Plus, on the other hand, draws power from a 97.2cc, single-cylinder motor that churns out 8.63PS at 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm at 5,000rpm. Both the bikes get a 4-speed transmission. The pair also get Hero’s patented i3S (idle-stop-start-system), which cuts off the engine automatically to save fuel during extended idle durations.
The Hero Glamour Fi IBS competes against the Honda Shine, Bajaj Discover 125, Yamaha Saluto and the Bajaj V15. The Splendor Plus, on the other hand, goes up against the Bajaj CT100, Honda CD 100, and TVS Star City Plus.
