Hero MotoCorp, today showcased its new diesel-powered motorbike, christened as RNT, at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo (IAE). Packed with a TDI engine, the 150cc motorbike is a perfect example of sheer hard work and eagerness to create something different. We know many motorcyclists need capacity and power to tow heavier loads, but they also want the machine to be comfortable, fuel-efficient and attractive too. Hero took it as a challenge and created the amazing diesel bike, Hero Motocorp RNT.
RNT is a whole new and unique concept by the domestic major, Hero Motocorp. The wide flat surfaces with strap bars are kept for hauling, plus multi-purpose foldable side racks, comfy seat and large footboards are something that are never seen before. The 150cc diesel RNT gives you flexible options. You could add a generator to the diesel engine to get the extra electrical power needed when stuck at a remote place. The LED lamp in the dash at the front can be removed and readjusted and gives you enough light to carry on even at night times. The motorbike has a 300mm disc brake at the front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear for all the sudden emergency stops you need to take. The RNT has 37mm telescopic hydraulic fork suspensions at the front and a swing arm adjustable shock absorber at the back.
The bike's 150cc liquid cooled, 4-stroke turbocharged diesel motor can generate a maximum power of 13.5bhp at 4,000rpm and churns out a highest torque of 35Nm at 1,600rpm. The bike has the capability of running 0-60kmph mark in 5 seconds. The second option is a hub electric motor in the front wheel, which is powered by an electric battery pack to give the rider a unique two-wheel drive option for the toughest world conditions and also the possibility to shut-off the rear drive and move to the city on electric power front-wheel-drive only.
