Already unveiled in January 2014, Hero MotoCorp Xtreme Sports is finally launched after a year. The bike has been priced at Rs. 72,625 and Rs. 75,725 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the single disc and double disc trims respectively. However, the bike hasn't reached to the most of dealerships across the country. The bike is based on the similar platform that has been used in its popular sibling- Hero Xtreme, but the new one gets sportier styling and performance.
Propelling the new Hero Xtreme Sports is the same 149.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that powers the entire 150cc motorcycle range of the company. However, it has been tuned to deliver its best performance in the new offering. With a carburetor type fuel system, the engine make power upto 15.2bhp and torque upto 13.5Nm coming at 8,500rpm and 7,000rpm respectively. This output of the retuned mill is 1bhp extra in power and 0.7Nm extra in torque, compared to the standard Hero Xtreme.
As we have mentioned above, the new Hero Xtreme Sports has a sportier design, which has been resulted by a complete new bodywork. All the parts of the bike including fuel tank, headlight, visor, console, rear view mirrors, seat side panels, rear panels, front/rear mudguard, rear grab rails and exhaust muffler have been redesigned in an aggressive manner. Other additions to the styling are edgy tank shrouds and an engine cowl, while the tail lamp has been kept similar to the standard Xtreme.
Rear suspension set-up of the 2015 Xtreme Sports is similar to the 2014 Xtreme and it gets a pair of 5-step adjustable spring loaded pneumatic dampers with Gas Reservoir Suspension (GRS). However, the front telescopic forks of the bike are a little different and looks similar to the Karizma/Karizma ZMR. The bike runs on 10-spoke alloys with 80/100 section front and 110/90 section rear tubeless tyres. The front wheel comes equipped with a 250mm disc brake, while the rear one gets 220mm disc as option against the 130mm drum type braking unit.
The new Hero Xtreme Sports stands against the premium offerings in the 150cc motorcycle segment like the Yamaha FZ series, Suzuki Gixxer and Honda CB Unicorn 160.
