Hero MotoCorp has already unveiled some advance two wheelers with fuel injection technology including HX250R, Hastur and ZIR. Now, there are reports claiming that one or more of these models will be equipped with Magneti Marelli FI systems and launched in the Indian market by early 2015.
Talking about the company's expansion plans, Mr. Saju Mookken, Managing Director and Country Manager, Magenti Marelli India said to ET, "The next path breaking technology that we will bring in India is the low-cost fuel injection system for mass-segment two-wheelers. The first motorcycle (with the technology) will be launched in India with Hero MotoCorp early next year."
So, Hero MotoCorp is definitely launching at least one of these amazing products showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo by early 2015, and we strongly believe that could be the HX250R. The statement also hints that the company will also provide the technology to other manufacturers in the market as well. Currently, cost of the technology limits it to the niche segment above-200cc in India, apart from the recently launched Yamaha FZ FI V2.0, which costs around Rs. 6,000 more than its older version. After finding it as an affordable and better alternative, more Indian manufacturer will adopt the advance power-train with better efficiency and performance.
On the other hand, Bosch- the most popular automotive technology provider is also working on advanced and affordable powertrain systems for two-wheelers in India. So, it can give a tough competition to the Italian brand- Magneti Marelli.
