The most radical-looking scooter receives an update at EICMA 2021
Italjet, an Italian bike maker, unveiled its Dragster scooter lineup at the recently concluded EICMA 2021 motorcycle show. The range includes the Dragster 125 and the Dragster 200. Both scooters will go on sale in December 2021 and are priced at Euro 5,499 (around Rs 4.65 lakh) and Euro 5,799 (around Rs 4.91 lakh) respectively. As the only differentiating factor in both scooters is the engine, let's take a closer look at the bigger sibling, Dragster 200 via images.
To justify its name, the Dragster 200 gets a unique, unconventional and mechanical design as most of the elements of the scooter have been kept exposed.
The fascia of the scooter looks sharp and aggressive thanks to its edgy body panels and the split-type LED headlight. The tail of the scooter again gets an aerodynamic and lean design that also houses a split-type LED taillight.
The Dragster 200 is powered by a single-cylinder 4-stroke liquid-cooled 200cc Euro 5-compliant engine that sits in a steel tube trellis frame integrated with die-cast aluminium plates and churns out 18.25PS.
And to make the scooter more capable out on the track, the company has sourced power parts from a few brands like Akrapovi?, Malossi, Brembo and Ohlins.
Akrapovi? has developed two exhausts for the Dragster, one for road use and the other for racing. Meanwhile, Malossi has developed a kit to improve the performance of the transmission. These kits shall arrive by February 2022 and will further increase the power output of the Dragster 200 by 2.27PS.
On the other hand, Brembo and Ohlins will supply the brake levers and master cylinder, and suspension setup, respectively.
The ride of the scooter is taken care of by ISS. (Integrated Steering System) single-arm and PAIOLI hydro-pneumatic adjustable shock absorber at the front and a single hydro-pneumatic adjustable shock absorber at the rear.
Meanwhile, the braking hardware includes a 200/190mm (front/rear) disc setup with Brembo brake calipers which is further assisted by single-channel ABS.
The scooter runs on a 12-13-inch alloy wheel setup that comes wrapped in Pirelli tyres, with 120-section unit at the front and 140-section unit at the rear.
