Apart from the 278cc scooter, the Keeway 500cc cruiser will also be launched in India

[UPDATE: Yezdi has launched three new bikes in India, Keeway K-Light 250V cruiser, Vieste 300 maxi-scooter and the Sixties 300i retro scooter. Full details in our launch story]

Keeway GT270

After teasing a 500cc cruiser, Keeway has teased the launch of yet another two-wheeler for the Indian market and this time it’s a maxi scooter, the Keeway GT270, to be precise. We’ve received a block-your-date for the 17th of May 2022 when the brand will debut in the country with the two products.

This maxi scooter is powered by a 278.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine pumping out 19.04PS and 22.5Nm. This makes it the second most powerful scooter in India, after the BMW C 400 GT.

On the features front, it gets an LED projector with DRLs on top up front. The scooter gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, with a tachometer, engine temperature meter, trip meter and clock. Adding to the sense of premium is a keyless ignition feature along with a USB port.

The suspension duties on this scooter are handled by KYB. The front gets 35mm forks while the rear has dual shock absorbers. The GT270 carries premium kit like dual-channel ABS and J.Juan calipers(240mm at the front and 220mm at the rear) taking care of the braking front. As to the tyres, it comes shod with 110/70-13 ones at the front and 130/70-13 at the rear.

The seat height of 770mm should be fairly accessible but the dry weight of 147kg is a bit on the heavier side.. A wheelbase of 1385mm makes it a bit longer than most of its Indian competition, but that also translates to the scooter being that much more stable at higher speeds, at least on paper. A massive 9.5L tank adds to the scooter’s credibility when going the long distance and a 10L underseat storage capacity makes it that much more practical. That said, the abysmal 115mm of ground clearance could be an issue for the kind of roads we have.

The GT270 is available in six colours: Pearl White, Matte Blue, Matte Black, Pearl White, Matte Blue and Matte Black.

We’re expecting the scooter to carry a price tag of Rs 2.5-3 lakh for the premium kit it carries. It’s important to note that the aforementioned specs are of the Ireland-spec model and the Indian-spec one may have some changes to not only make its pricing competitive, but to also match our riding conditions. In terms of the competition, the scooter slots right between the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the BMW C 400 GT.
