India finally gets a proper maxi-scooter
- 22Kymco has priced the X-Town 300i ABS at Rs 2.30 lakh (on-road Delhi).
- It packs a 276cc single-cylinder engine and makes 24.5PS of power and 25Nm of torque.
- The maxi-scooter faces no competition, considering its pricing and displacement.
- It is also the only scooter in India to come with a dual-channel ABS system.
Alongside the 2019 iFlow and the Like 200, 22Kymco has also launched the X-Town 300i ABS maxi-scooter in India today. Priced at Rs 2.30 lakh (on-road Delhi), the X-Town 300i is now the most powerful petrol scooter on sale in India. We have to add, the maxi-scooter has been priced very competitively. This can be contributed to the fact that he X-Town 300i ABS, along with the iFlow and the Like200 will be fully manufactured at the company's plant in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan and will not be brought here via CKD or CBU route.
Design wise, the X-Town 300i ABS looks like a proper maxi-scooter with a wide front apron and a large windshield. Further cementing its touring capabilities is a massive 12.5-litre fuel tank, generous seating space and a large wheelbase. While the company hasn't given us the exact numbers, the maxi-scooter's underseat storage is big enough to accommodate two full-face helmets.
Powering the maxi-scooter is a 276cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor which churns out 24.5PS of power and 25Nm of torque. Its suspension setup consists of chunky 37mm telescopic forks at the front and dual shocks at the rear.
Braking hardware, on the other hand, consists of three-piston caliper with a 260mm disc on the front and the rear twin-piston caliper acting on a 240mm disc. The maxi-scooter runs on 14-inch wheel at the front and a 13-inch unit at the back. It is also the only scooter in India to come with a dual-channel ABS system. As one can imagine, the X-Town 300i ABS is as heavy as it looks. It tips the scale at 181kg (dry).
Considering its pricing and displacement, the 22Kymco scooter faces no competition. The only other maxi-scooter available in the market is the Suzuki Burgman Street, which packs a much smaller 125cc engine. We for one, can’t wait to take the maxi-scooter out for a spin. So, stay tuned for our initial impressions.
